Review of Nippies: coverage + sparkle
It was a Saturday night, I had a hot date, it was a perfect opportunity to try out a pair of Nippies from ohhhcanada.ca.
Nippies are a single-use self-adhesive nipple cover. I would describe them as being more akin to pasties than the type of nipple covers that are silicone-padded stick-on circles, because they're more for a decorative rather than breast-shaping purpose. They come in two sizes, B and C, which are more related to nipple than breast cup size - I tested the B size and it was fine for my A-cups/average nipples, I believe the C size is just a larger pastie, suitable for covering larger nipples and desirable for the larger coverage area generally for larger breasts.
The two pairs of Nippies come with an instructional booklet (only lengthy because it's multi-lingual), a miniature test pair of Nippies for testing skin sensitivity, and two pairs of nipple pads. To put them on, you peel back half of the adhesive paper backing, stick it to your lower breast, press the nipple pad onto your nipple, then remove the rest of the backing and stick the top part of the Nippie to the top of your breast. It's really much easier than it sounds, especially since you can un-peel and re-adjust as necessary. I'd allow maybe five minutes to put the pair on, if you're concerned about getting the placement exactly right.
The outer surface of the Nippies is surprisingly soft (I had imagined them being more plasticy). Not entirely sure what they are composed of: there is no materials list included, just a reference to the fact that products in the Nippies line “are made of quality fabrics like satin and lace”. They do indeed feel like a piece of soft fabric adhered to your skin, and are about the same thickness.
The Nippies stick easily and stay stuck on without slipping. I wore them through a long evening of dinner and dancing without any movement or wrinkling to the Nippies whatsoever. When it came time to peel them off, they came off very easily, no pulling of tiny hairs. I would say they're the perfect balance of sticky enough that they don't slip, while not sticking so much that they're difficult to remove.
While I don't really see Nippies as a bra replacement for most women, they're definitely worth a try as basic cover to prevent the appearance of erect nipples (especially now that the weather is getting cooler!) under a thin fabric top or dress, or to wear as a fun decoration when you're planning to wear little else.
