Review: The Butterfly Kiss, Sweet and Petite

Butterfly Kiss from Babeland

The Butterfly Kiss sounds and looks sweet, with its petite size and pink heart decorations. In practice, this impression holds up: it’s a very friendly little toy that gives a pleasant, and fruitful, encounter without being overbearing with its size or force.

To be more specific on what I mean by “petite”, 3.5 inches of the toy is insertable, and the widest part is 1.2 inches in diameter. Fully inserted the toy can hit both the G-spot and clitoris simultaneously, but given that there is not a lot of extra length, it’s up to the individual user to position the toy in a way that fits her own anatomy perfectly, so it may take a few tries to get it right. The material is very bendable, though, and the bulb design helps the shaft to stay in place despite the small overall size of the toy.

For those wanting something requiring less exactitude, Babeland carries plenty of other combination (rabbit style) vibrators with a longer clitoral part coming up parallel to the shaft of the toy. These may be more suited to your needs in that they are easier to use at different depths/angles.

The vibrations of the Butterfly Kiss are quite strong and buzzy, and the volume  is on the louder side. Vibrations  travel through the length of the toy, and seem equally strong throughout. In the butterfly-shaped part, the wings and antenae vibrate and the body of the butterfly is rounded and slightly textured (small horizontal stripes).

From what I’ve read, the button on the base of the toy is meant to start it and move it through three different level settings. However, the particular model I tested seemed to work by twist-operation only. Once the battery compartment was fully screwed onto the bottom of the toy, it buzzed at one speed only, pressing on the button once the toy was on had no effect. It’s possible that the model I tested was different from others: in some photos of this product it shows a white or translucent base component, on mine that part is a slightly darker pink than the main body of the toy.

The material is TPR (thermo-plastic rubber), which is both strong and very flexible. It’s hypo-allergenic and phthalates-free. It can be cleaned with soap and water, but is more porous than silicone, so it should be washed very thoroughly and not shared with multiple users. One nice thing about toys that are not made of silicone is that they can be used with either silicone- or water-based lube.

On the whole, the Butterfly Kiss is sweet and satisfactory. It would be great for beginning vibrator users. Equally, there are times when those who usually prefer a more imposing device are  in the mood for something on the smaller side, either simply for a change of pace, or when recovering from a surgery or childbirth, etc. This toy is a nice option for those preferences and occasions.
